I'm thinking of swapping an ABA/JH into my ST for a bit more power.
but I want to keep the factory carb setup?
I can't seem to find anyone who's done it before, what should I look out for?

Are you in the US? I would look for an intake manifold from a VW powered Dodge Omni or Plymouth Horizon. These manifolds use a 32/36 progressive 2 barrel carb that should give you enough air to run the bigger motor. You'll have to play with jetting, but the parts are readily available. If you want to use a stock VW carb, you may be rev limited by the size of the barrel. To put it simply, look for the biggest one you can find and think about boring it out a bit. You'll still have to change the jetting. No matter what you do, the bigger block should still give you more torque at low RPMs.
