Are there any swallowtail GTIs? I kinda doubt it.

Might have trouble with that. First US Rabbit GTi's were the 1983's. First Canadian ones were 1980's. Before that no Rabbit GTi's in North America at all. No swallowtail Rabbit GTi's were ever imported to North America. Maybe look in Europe?

umm, sounds like he's a UK member, so no problem there. the GTI debuted in 1976, but as a non-swallowtail '76. so far as i know, there is no such thing. a '76 GTI would still be amazing though!

I have a '76 GTI, built in June 1976. To my knowledge there are only 3 others left existing but all with later chassis numbers than mine. The car in the picture was a prototype built in 1975 before the swallowtail went out of production. No actual production GTi had the swallowtail panel - it was about 6 months too late.
