Hi everyone. I thought I'd post a few pics of my restoration project, a friend of mine bought this car intending to restore it, but then had a major change of plans - so I bought it from him, I couldn't let an opertunity like this go by! It's a 75 Lofoten green, 36k miles since new, it was one owner until about a year ago but it has lead a fairly hard life. The bumpers are in a sorry state, it has a few dents and scratches - but all that is pretty easy to fix. The hardest job, looks to be the front inner wings - they are so badly rotten I need complete wings. As far as I know she's OK apart from the small patch of rot here and there. It looks like it was on the road until 98, which is it's last tax disc, and it's been sat in a barn for 7 years, hense it's state. The front inner wing!! I'll keep you guys updated with the progress.

I finally got round to doing a very small bit of work to my mk1, I'm waiting until our workshop is completely finished before starting it properly, then the engine and interior can come out. I actually started out by cleaning it, from what I can tell it was taken off the road in 1998 dirty, and hasn't been touched since. As the front wings are bad I'm not letting any water get near it, so it was just wiped over - but it's transformed the car!! It's actually got some shine to the paint, and things like the chrome window surrounds have come up perfect! I'm also fairly chuffed at the state of the rear wheel arches, I haven't yet got the grinder of them, but with little work it started to come back to good metal, so I don't think they're going to be a problem. I just need to get underneath now and see what the floor is like. The front inner wings are completely knackered, but I do have complete replacement panels coming soon. Unfortunately it has been a bit mistreated during it's life, quite a few knocks and bruises - but they're all superficial. Anyway, here are some pics: Condition of the seal under the kick plate is mint. Rear arch Some of the touch up's! In bed Please ignore the state of our workshop, we've only had is a few weeks and it's far from finished! Got to paint it next week  Once that's done it'll move to the other side of the workshop in it's own space, but we've got to level the floor first! You can just see the area in front the Golf we concreted, we've got to float cement in yet. I already have some new part's to go on one he's painted, inlcuding new headlights and tail lights, carpet and side mouldings.

Nice to see that there are others that have some work to do on their 75 Looking good though, even if it's a bit rusty. Looks like you have a good amount of space to work on, I just have a small garage but it'll do. I've done a mk2 with widen arches, rollcage and painted the whole car in that garage You may have seen my 75 project on vwvortex.. forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2505393
