Thought i'd post this up as its pretty quiet on here! Some of you may not like what i am doing and should have left the car standard. But.........as with many cars in the Classic car scene it is acceptable now to install modern engines to a certain degree. I enjoy driving my Mk1's and its nice to have the reliability and power of a modern engine in your pride and joy Mk1. I bought the car back in October when i sold my '76 and have been building it steadily since. I basically have a 1.8T installed, with cable change box, all on standard management. Retrimmed original interior, '79 GTI running gear with uprated ARB's, modified original sender to incorporate fuel pump, Mk4 golf brakes all round etc Body wise the car is almost all orginal paint which i'm keeping of course, i've added some rare bits from the '80's, happich rear windows, opening quarters, van stainless boot protectors, autoplas rear diffuser, bumper over riders ('70's) etc Old photograph, but it is now sat with the engine in and just about running

Very nice! I'd probably do the same to mine if I had the extra cash.

Do you have any shots of the car prior to that one? I would love to see the build up to that point. And I bet that others would as well.
