En effet, les modèles de base étaient livrés avec la tringle de coffre. J'ai aussi le vase d'expention et le prise diag (oui Môssieur) qui a disparu ensuite sur les modèles suivants. Yes, basic models have tailgate stick. My engine is equiped with expansion water tank and diagnostic plug (yes Sir) lost on "younger" models
Sorry for my poor language

OK, 1500, but are you sure it's a GH? I was looking further for GH, and found this! GH was built between august 1979 (!) and January 1982(!), so much later than your car. I don't know if it's " GOLF" or " GOLF S" it's an "Golf S", "S" puts it to a 1500 type, it's the basic Golf with 1500. I am telling Olivier that on my Swallow (sept 74) which is a "De Luxe" version, the rear hatch is maintained opened via a gas strut and that on my 76 which is a "standard", it is a a metal stick like on his 75. It looks to me that some equipments had been installed earlier on the GL/GLS Mk1s ! The metal stick was just on the basic models ("Golf" and "Golf S"), i don't know till wenn, 1976, 77, 78, 79 or even 1980. Another "strange" thing : on the 1100 Swallow engine, there is an expansion water tank, on my 1100 from 76 and 77 like on my GTis (77/78), there is no water tank ! The radiator has a filling cap ... ?! Around 1976 the Golf models became an radiator with filling cap, that was used till 1981 (the big rear light models), at that time the expansion water tank came back, but not on all models, my november 1982 Golf has the radiator with filling cap.

Just for show my pick up with new bumper It's not original for you, but it's very difficult to find in Europe. Remains to find a Westmoreland front grill now...
