Hello the tail community ! I am glad to join you guys, being a fresh Swallow tailer : I am an Old Golf addicted, I have 6 MK1s, all being pre-78 models. I have just bought a red 1974-75 1100 two doors : 1753051299 which apparently places it early september 1974. Car is in quite good conditions and has 81 000 kms on the clock. The red paint looks good on pics but is faded, hope I'll get it back to shine soon. It seems to have most of its special and original equipments. I will work out some pics this week-end to show it to you. I'll keep U in touch ! Harald

Hello ! Thanks for the welcome. Here are some of my beloved MK1s ... The 1100 standard 1976 : in extremely well condition, I'd have loved the Swallow to be like this ! 35 000 kms on the clock only ! The 1977 GTI (chassis 177 ... not 178 !) : pictures were taken 5 years ago, I had resprayed the wheels and polished the car that looked neat. Car is in need for strong metal work, although doesn't look like it. Is black but was grey ... original specific 77/78 interior (seats, glove box w/o door) My Cherry 1977 1100 ! 4 doors Deluxe ... new paint + chrome I am selling it to "compensate" the buying of the 74 ! My 1978 1600 GTi (4 speed) original and grey Needs some work : paint + change of the fuel tank. Hope to get it back on the road for this summer. I love it ! GTIs are pure (power) pleasure to rev at 6900 ! GREAT cars ! And the last one ... a november 77 (chassis 78) 1600 GTi, black : my first MK1 ... just sold to a friend, in need for much work. I couldn't keep all of them ... I also had a brilliant nov 1980 (the first long lights : GTi 1600 5 speed and special "6 month" red striped dash board. Will show you this one later ! Keep in touch lads ! Harald

@+ Harald

I have just bought a red 1974-75 1100 two doors : 1753051299 which apparently places it early september 1974. Hello, Golf L S on the Rear, "S" means 1500, so are you sure it is a 1100? Nice car btw, and also your other cars! Greetz from the south Netherlands!

Hi ! I will need to take some pictures of the engine but really is like a 1100 ... identical to my 1976 and 1977 1100 cars ... and 17FA1 engine/car type on the "papers" ... You never know what could have happened to a car : rear damage after an accident ?! Logo change ... just for fun ? My 1977 is a 4 door "De luxe" chromed car and has a GL (no S) logo on rear hatch. Are you 100 % sure GL"S" puts it to a 1500 type ?! Keep in touch "neighbour" Harald

Hi ! I will need to take some pictures of the engine but really is like a 1100 ... That's great, can't wait to see the engine, thank's! identical to my 1976 and 1977 1100 cars ... and 17FA1 engine/car type on the "papers" ... You never know what could have happened to a car : rear damage after an accident ?! Logo change ... just for fun ? You're right, maybe there was a rear damage, or just quit simple a logo change, the car is 34 years old, some things could be changed at this long time. My 1977 is a 4 door "De luxe" chromed car and has a GL (no S) logo on rear hatch. Are you 100 % sure GL"S" puts it to a 1500 type ?! Yes, 100% sure! The "S" at the end (or just only "S" at the Basic Golf with 1500 engine) puts it also to a 1500 type. Keep in touch "neighbour" Harald Ha ha, i'm not from Belgium ;D , it's the south from the Netherlands were i live, it's that small dutch part between Belgium and Germany. Greetz, René P.s. sorry for my bad englisch

Salut à toi alors le Chti normand. I don't like red cars but on a swallowtail or Karmann Ghia it's a beautiful dress I think "GOLF" I haven't too much information, just my car "GOLF L" is "Luxe" with 1100 (chrome, velvet seat, carpet, ...) "GOLF S" is "Sport" with 1500 (2 round counter, ...) "GOLF LS" is combination On 1100, distributor is on camshaft On 1500, distributor is in front of engine near oil filter
It's Golf II "Champ" or "Millionen" in front your swallowtail ?
